Then auto body and collision damage repair may be the rewarding career choice for you! Statistics show that there are three positions available for every two applicants coming into the trade. Autobody Collision damage repairers are in demand, and Fanshawe's Autobody programs are highly recognized by employers throughout Ontario. Every year, vehicle manufacturers are developing vehicles using materials and methods that are new to the trade, demanding cutting-edge repair techniques, tools and materials. Auto Body Repair Techniques is a one-year Ontario College Certificate that provides graduates with a clear advantage when entering the auto body repair field. Formal training and specialized skills are essential to repair today's vehicles back to manufacturer specifications. This program will provide a strong foundational understanding of the technologies and techniques used, along with numerous opportunities to perfect craftsmanship through actual repairs in our state of the art repair shop. This approach will equip the student to thrive within the industry, based on real world experience. The curriculum focuses on the practical skills used by entry-level auto body repairers: welding, refinishing, metalworking and body repair. You will learn how to assess vehicle damage and develop repair estimates using proper etiquette and working with common industry software. You will learn the fundamentals behind shop operation and developing skills to succeed in the auto body and collision damage repair trade.
